KEVIN B. WATSON is a partner with the firm. Mr. Watson's practice focuses on the litigation and resolution of complex professional liability, commercial, construction, intellectual property, products liability and environmental matters. He has successfully represented domestic and international contractors, design professionals and project owners before various federal, state and international courts and arbitration panels.   Mr. Watson's representative matters include:

• Contract review and risk management for international engineering and construction firms on heavy industry, transit and pharmaceutical projects.
• Risk management, professional liability, labor, business and contract review services for a variety of domestic architectural and engineering firms.
• Defended claims in excess of $75 Million against major design firm on transit projects in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
• Prosecuted and defended multi-state trade secret, copyright infringement and professional liability claims involving the misappropriation of CAD drawings and other work product of a nationally ranked design firm.
• Defended $6 Million claim against an EPC contractor brought in the Western District of Louisiana relating to the design and installation of flue gas desulphurization equipment at an electrical power cogeneration facility.
• Defended Pittsburgh based designer against $37 Million claim brought in state court in Michigan seeking compensation for defective design of a twin strand steel caster.
• Defended Texas based design firm against $23 Million claim before the Queens Bench of Alberta, Canada seeking damages for business interruption losses regarding the design of an ammonia synthesis plant in Edmonton.
• Defended internationally ranked design firm against $6 Million claim for damages arising out of design and construction of a reverse osmosis desalination plant in Umm Lujj, Saudi Arabia.
• Defended design firm against $1.2 billion claim under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act stemming from an oil refinery explosion in Corpus Christi, Texas.
• Prosecuted $10 million claim against for electrical contractor contract balances, extras, and impact damages arising out of the construction of combined cycle power plant in Eastern Pennsylvania.
• Defended subsidiary of major company in CERCLA litigation in the Western District of Pennsylvania brought by the Environmental Protection Agency for remedial costs associated with the Bruin Lagoon waste site in Pennsylvania.
• Defended coal surety bond companies before the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board in forfeiture and civil penalty assessment actions brought by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• Defended nationally ranked mechanical contractor in claims brought before the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service regarding the discharge of shop foreman.
  

Understanding that litigation is and should be a last step in risk management, Mr. Watson is adept at finding non-litigious solutions for his clients, bringing his considerable knowledge of architectural, engineering and construction disciplines to the bargaining table.

Mr. Watson has contributed writings to various industry publications.He is a member of the American Bar Association's Forum on Construction Litigation, the Design Build Institute, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Engineers Club of Philadelphia. He is also an engineer-in-training in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
